Upanayan Sanskar is one of the most sacred of the 16 Hindu Sanskaras (Shodasha Samskaras). Also known as Janeu Sanskar or Yagyopavit Sanskar, it marks the initiation of a child into Vedic education and spiritual discipline. Traditionally performed for boys of Brahmin, Kshatriya, and Vaishya varnas, this ritual symbolizes the beginning of Brahmacharya Ashram and study of the Vedas.

📜 Meaning of Upanayan

• "Upa" means near and "Nayan" means to lead.

• Hence, Upanayan = to lead near the Guru or divine knowledge.
